I'll tell you poems to make you weep with long hair goodbye goodbye from Brian Zegeer on Vimeo.
This is a stop-motion/claymation beautifully created by Brian Zegeer. Upon completion, he asked me to score a solo banjo composition without me seeing the video. We thought this method would work better, but ... after a couple tries, he ended up having me view the video while scoring. So I told him "third time's a charm : )"Wednesday, December 1, 2010

Japan shows and adventures
This is a picture of me sitting by the giant Buddah statue in Kamakura, Japan. A beautiful reminder that we are a part of something much larger than ourselves.
September 1, 2010 at Super Deluxe in Tokyo. That's me on the homemade theremin and an animation by Brian Zegeer in the background.
Super Deluxe sound and video check
This is me performing at Three in Shimoktozawa,Tokyo 8/31.
Here I am sitting on the peak of Mount Tskuba-San in Ibaraki, Japan. If you look closely you will see a cute dragonfly that landed on my leg; a very affectionate insect.

Otamatone
This is a picture of me playing the Otamatone in Barcelona. It's a really fun electronic toy from Japan; made by the company Maywadenki. The Japanese make the most amazing gadgets.
I got to say, this was a big hit in Europe. Everyone was in awe of this funny looking instrument. When I play it in New York people are confused.
I don't know what to say...but, when I go to Japan at the end of August I definitely hope they're not confused.

London at The Old Blue Last
The show in London was great. The Old Blue Last is a really nice pub with a performance room upstairs; and great sound. I do have to say I was a bit tired this point...it was my last show of the tour. You can only play so many solo shows til you go crazy. I got to hang out with my friends Chris Ludwig and Ben Michael after, that was hilarious.

Wolfest in Rotterdam
Last night I played at Wolfart--an anti-squat building converted into an artspace. My friends, Eklin, invited me to play with other fantastic bands. Eklin has been very kind and helpful on this tour; they're a really great band...check them out(http://www.myspace.com/eklin). This was the first time in Rotterdam, and man, what a fun bike ride back to Lo and Mi's place after the show.

Dead Copperhead!!
Just finished a series of shows in Switzerland. Yesterday I got to play at a cool sculpture symposium in the woods of a small town called Wohlen, where I grew up. Later on that evening I played in Basel at really great venue called Parterre. I was very honored to open up for the fantastic Dead Brothers. They invited me to play banjo for their closing songs. They also shot me on stage and made me an honorary Dead Brother. I told them I was already dead cause I watched so many zombie movies. Cheers to the Dead Brothers!!!

Claymation Meets Banjo
My very talented friend, Brian Zegeer, has a new claymation up in the project room of Stephan Stoyanov Gallery in the L.E.S. I was honored to record a solo banjo piece to accompany the video last month. I still haven't seen the completed synchronization of music to video yet. Hope to check it out soon...maybe I'll see you there.
